I had been fearing this one, but it went way better than expected.

I read somewhere a long time ago, that a runner should try 10 x 800m, and then convert the average minute and second time into hours and minutes. e.g. an average of 3mins16 would indicate the person should be targeting 3hours16 in the marathon.

So my target was to do the 10 x 800m intervals and look for a time under 3m15 for the average. It looks like I smashed that :) 

All my intervals were below 3m15 and my average was about 3m09 :) I wonder if Nick had been around if we'd have pushed each other further and taken another second or two off it. We'll have to try it :)

Now I think that doing a marathon in 3 hours 9 is unrealistic given my best marathon is 3h30 and best half marathon is 1h35, but another month to go and tune things further.
