Miserable weather - a bit cold and raining, I nearly didn't go out. Thank goodness I persuaded myself to go - perfect running weather :)
The plan said half marathon in 1h23 :) yeah right! I don't have a race I can go in either. So it was to try a half marathon on my own. Unfortunately Pierre couldn't join - too much travel in the week and understandably needs to spend time with his family.
I thought ok, this needs to be a HICE (High Intensity Continuous Exercise) run. I set myself a target of 1h30 for a half marathon - that is quite a hard target given that I have only run within 1h30 twice and both in race situations.
I got to half way - 20 seconds over target - last 2km were hard - either running into wind or up hill.
I felt I could probably pull that 20 secs back. I probably pulled it back within the first 2km of the way back - downhill and wind supported :)
It was then focus on running style, keeping the strides going, not letting tiredness disrupt the style. I had to keep the concentration going, not to switch off. I am getting pretty good at that now.
It was so nice to finish and see I made it with 10 secs left.
I'm going reflect on this, but to run a sub 1h30 on my own and not in a race situation is really really pleasing.
In fact that might be my best run ever!
On the down side, I have some muscle pain (I think it's muscle) - inside left leg at the back. It hurts a little when walking. I am icing it, hopefully nothing much - never had this before. It's a new ache, hopefully not an injury.

Left adductor strain - how serious I don't know, but it is not good now (evening) :(
This could be a while befoe recovery.
How annoying after perhaps the best practise run of my life!!
