Well it's been a while since I last blogged. It's been a pretty frustrating summer with injuries, the ITB particularly - mainly on the right knee, but also on the left knee a bit. I was very frustrated at one stage, but I hope I have the patience now to recover properly. I even bought a foam roller from UK back - can these things be bought in Hungary??
Hopefully I am getting over it finally now, but it has meant that I couldn't run the Budapest half marathon and Budapest marathon. I am most sad about the Budapest half marathon as that body of people would really carry me along. I remember being a bit shocked at the volume of people last year.
Anyway, it is nice to just run a small distance 5 or 8km or so and feel I'm getting back into it.
Now, the key thing seems to be patience, getting a strong base, and not trying to do too much as I have done so often in the past. I will slowly start to do some intervals - in fact started on Tuesday, just 2 x 800 and 2 x 400m at the begining.
I might try and do a half marathon in November - I did the monoton half marathon last year, and those hills really developed some strength in my legs, and the Siofok half marathon was by far my best time. But I will have to see and be patient.
My bigger aim now is the Vienna marathon in April 2012, that was a good race in April 2011 - maybe the best I have been in, well certainly from a time viewpoint it was!
Good luck to anyone in the Budapest marathon this weekend!
glad to see you are getting better. good luck! :)
